Denise & Dylan ~ A Fall Spectacular Wedding Day

Planning an outdoor wedding during October in Vermont requires a lot of faith in Mother Nature to say the least! Will your guests be freezing and covered in snow or sweating over the hot late fall sun? And what will her blessings be when it comes to those infamous Vermont fall colors? I am happy to say that she showed up with a giant smile for Denise & Dylan’s big day at the Colonel Williams Inn in Marlboro. The temperatures were a little cool in the shade, but the sun kept everyone warm, and the trees were putting on a gorgeous fall show for everyone.

Adding to nature’s beauty was just how amazingly laid back of a couple they were. Wedding day preparations moved along swiftly and calming that ended up allowing for Denise to sit down & unwind watching the Texas/Oklahoma game before walking down the aisle to promise to love Dylan for the rest of her days (and he promise back if you’re keeping track!).

After their vows the guests traveled just up the hill to celebrate Denise & Dylan in a beautiful, restored barn with the very exciting addition of heat lamps that took the edge of the chilly autumn air as guests enjoyed a delicious dinner and the most scrumptious cupcakes before dancing the night away.

Vendors that made the day happen!

Connor ~ WUHS Class of 2023

Making a determination of location wasn’t a problem for Connor’s session - he has the most giant & beautiful backyard filled with trees, rocks and a spectacular wooded path! We had great fun exploring the property and all the beauty it had to give in its fall glory.

In mid-September I was beginning to wonder if the fall foliage this year would be a bust after such a hot & dry summer, but boy was I surprised! It has been so beautiful & long lasting providing stunning backgrounds for so many sessions this fall!

David ~ SHS Class of 2023

I met David for his senior session at the dam on an absolutely spectacular fall day. The temperatures were warm and the leaves were showing off their fall glory …. providing an amazing location for his portraits. David is a member of the SHS wrestling team & wanted to be sure to incorporate his passion for the sport in his portraits.

Maya ~ SHS Class of 2023

This senior season I have been blessed to have met so many amazing seniors and also been to some really amazing places to capture this special time. Maya was no exception, inviting me to the Williams River Inn at the height of foliage season. Everything about this session was spectacular - the weather, the foliage, the location and the super sweet Maya! She also brought along a few different outfits that perfectly complimented the diverse settings of the inn.

Zed ~ WUHS Class of 2023

I met Zed as perhaps one of the most iconic fall locations in our area - the Center Road Church & Meeting House in Weathersfield. It seemed that fall this year was going to be quick and rather lack luster but as the traditional time frame of peak foliage got closer nature seemed to step up and show us her glorious side - all while continuing to be unseasonably warm. All of this combine for the perfect setting for senior photos for Zed!

Jennifer ~ Jason ~ Family

Fall isn’t just about seniors ….. it is also a time to grab some nice family photos and get prepared for those holiday cards & gifts. Jennifer, Jason, Addelyn & Brynlee are no strangers to my camera. Over the years I have captured them as a family several times and have photographed both Addelyn & Brynlee during their preschool years and watched them grow as athletes over the years. As a photographer is really such a wonderful privilege to see children grow up right before my lens.

This year I had an assistant travel with me for the occasion ….. and then he even had to make an appearance during the photos ….. he & Brynlee first had class together in third grade and they have clicked so well together over the years ….. their favorite thing to do at school is to band together to torment the PE teacher over her choice in football teams - you see they have the same taste!

Jillian ~ SHS Class of 2023

Instead of picking just one location for her senior photos, Jillian picked a whole town! When you live in a town just a smidge more than 4.5 square miles it’s not a hard ask! We traveled through town finding nooks & crannies that made for some gorgeous backgrounds.

Jill is a tri-sport athlete whom I have spent hours photographing between the soccer pitch, basketball court and softball field. It is always such a pleasure to capture these athletes for their senior portraits when I get capture them in a different light!

Aidan ~ SHS Class of 2023

Aidan is one of those children that has grown up before my eyes. Much like my own children I’m unsure how he went from being that small boy to the mature, composed & funny young man that he is today. We had so much fun shooting his senior portraits moving around to a few different locations (he also listened well to my layer advice & stripped off a variety of layers for many different looks). We ended the fun with a tire smoke backdrop as you can see right here!

Katie ~ SHS Class of 2023

Katie chose to have her senior portrait session at one of Springfield’s classic locations …. the Eureka School House! It has a humble existence just a short distance off I-91 on busy Charlestown Road but it is loaded with beautiful and varied backgrounds for portraits with a white birch tree, plenty of greenery, the texture of the old wooden siding, the Black River and of course the classic Vermont covered bridge.

Katie’s future plans are still taking shape but she knows working with art is definitely in her heart.

Alivia ~ SHS Class of 2023

Alivia might look familiar to you - she came along for some of Cole’s Senior Session! I met Alivia at a location that I had not yet shot at for her session. The light was beautiful and the location was dynamite giving us a whole crazy amount of different settings to play with! I am, however, quite grateful that with all the geese nearby we didn’t get pooped on or chased!

Alivia is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, and she has an absolutely stunning voice. She has sung the anthem at a few sporting events - including Gurney Field Day 2022 - and does a spectacular job!

Owen ~ SHS Class of 2023

Location, location, location ….. so often I encounter portrait clients seeking the perfect location - but I find that the most perfect location is right in front of you - somewhere that feels comfortable & gives you the ability to express who you are.

I met up with Owen at Riverside Park earlier this month. We were able to capture a variety of backgrounds to highlight his interest in football and basketball as well as some texture through a rock wall backdrop as well as natural trees, etc. that are present throughout the park.

Bruce's 70th

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
– Aaron Siskind

I had the honor of being hired to take portraits during Bruce’s 70th Birthday party. It was a beautiful September day for a party & it was so wonderful to capture a variety of images of Bruce with his friends & family. So often we go to these events and capture images with our cell phones - which are great, but how often do you print those images and tuck them away for viewing as the years pass by. I loved the intentionality of hiring a photographer to capture these portraits so that they won’t be forgotten.

Tiffany & Timothy ~ Class of 2023

The Weathersfield Center Church provided the perfect location for this brother & sister set of twins as we captured their special portraits! Tiffany looked radiant at this location in her dress & Timothy’s blue polo just popped against the lush green foliage and was a nearly perfect match with his car!

Lily ~ Junior Portraits

I’ve been taking Lily’s school portraits for quite some time - I tried to figure it out this morning without success ` and here we are already at her final “school” session. I remember someone telling me when I was a new mom how quickly time would pass now that I was a parent …. they were spot on, but as a photographer I watch time pass quickly as well. It seems that in a blink of an eye they go from a kindergarten soccer player to a starting senior on varsity quicker than seems even fair. It has been a privilege to watch Lily blossom into a spectacular young women that will make a great difference in this world!

Cole ~ SHS Class of 2023

It’s difficult to believe we are once again back in fall & my favorite season of the year …. SENIORS!!! Cole is a 12 season athlete at SHS participating in football, wrestling and track. Unfortunately, the night before his portraits he injured his ankle during a football game …. however, being the tough kid he is, he got his foot into a cowboy boot and rocked his senior session!

SFD Retirement Party

It isn’t very often you get to be a part of celebrating someone’s retirement after 45 years on the job! However, this weekend brought just that opportunity. I was invited to capture moments from Springfield Fire Department’s Deputy Chief Scott Richardson’s party. It was such a honor to capture these moments as people across the spectrum spoke of his time with the department, bringing a calming presence to otherwise chaotic events - including both his first & last Chiefs. It is clear he will be missed. As I was speaking to him later in the evening he promised that while he has hung up his fire helmet, he is most certainly not gone from town …. I don’t think this would really surprise anyone! Congratulations on your retirement!

Coutermarsh Family

How do you know you’re a true Vermonter? You look 4 degrees in the eye and say bring on the family portraits! I loved being able to catch back up with my favorite families … even if we nearly froze to death … at least I could wear a big coat, hat & gloves!

Joyful Session

I was treated to a session recently that just made my photographer heart overfilled with joy! I got to meet a new little friend at her home. Mom & Dad stayed back and just let her play with me …. I captured her tongue (a lot) …. captivated by a stick and her swing …. booty shakes …. climbing a tree … running in a field. See, mom & dad were just cool for me to capture my new little friend just as she was. Sure we got a beautiful smile just perfect for a Christmas Card or Grandma’s Wall …. but we also captured a whole lot of who she is right now in this very moment! As my children have aged, as I look back over my photos of them through the years … those are the ones that make me smile & remember …. far more than the perfect portrait. So next time we meet and your little ones are having much more fun just being silly with me remember ….. this is what you’ll want to look back at!

Bailee ~ Class of 2022

What an amazing fall we have had!!! The trees have seemed to hold onto their leaves a little longer and the weather has certainly been considerably milder! Usually by late October my clients are doing their best acting jobs to appear NOT frozen! That was not the case with Bailee …. we lucked out and got a gorgeous late fall day! I met her at one of my favorite spots ever - the Perkinsville Dam - there is such diversity offered in a small space! PERFECT for senior portraits!

Cooper & Jeremy ~ School Photos

So I’ll be honest, while waiting for photos I was (not so) secretly hoping that Oliver would be attending their school photo session with them ….. I was so happy to see his smiling face when they pulled up! YES YES YES …. your pups are ALWAYS welcome at our sessions!
